So if you’re asking yourself where do all the cool kids hang out in Paris, away from all the tourist hordes? In and around Canal Saint-Martin of course!
This under-the-radar neighborhood is located in the 10th arrondissement, and is an absolute “must” experience for any visitor or expat with children who desires a beneath-the-surface feel for Parisian culture that goes beyond the Mona Lisa, the Eiffel Tower, or the Champs Elysées.
The Canal has no thousand foot tall monuments, royal-owned property, or world famous museums, and thus isn’t included on many Paris travel itineraries. It does, however, have a great deal of character and a lot of ‘hidden’ child-friendly cafe’s and restaurants… And in summer you see many people bring a picknick basket and enjoy a lunch or gouter along the water.
If you happen to be in the neighbourhood, we (the les enfants a paris crew) all went to a small and typically French cafe ‘Chez Prune’ for a hot drink. They totally won us over with its quirky decor, limited but good menu, child-friendly staff and relaxed ambience.
And everyone was dressed in style of course! Have a look and let us know you’re favourite outfit!
Léa is dressed in a dress by Jakioo by Monalissa and her cardigan by Tape a L’Oeil. Bonnie, next to Léa, is wearing her T-shirt with rollerskate print from Stella MacCartney Kids via Orange Mayonnaise combined with her light pink cardigan from Gray Label. Maylia is dressed in a shirt and romper by Zara and hat by H&M.
Alexander and Manon love hanging out together as you already might have noticed?! Alexander is wearing his ‘vehicles blue Oscar shirt’ from the French brand Je suis en CP. Manon is dressed in a knitted sweater in a beautiful watermelon colour from the Danish brand molo.
Melchior is dressed in his super cool skateboard print T-shirt from molo combined with red trousers from the Italian brand Monnalisa Hitch-Hiker. Cléophée is wearing a lovely green cardigan from the Dutch brand Bengh per principesse and underneath a romper from the Swedish brand Filemon Kid.
The kids are definitely having fun!
Chiara (left) is wearing a jeans jacket by Monnalisa and her green ‘Tea in the Garden’ dress by the Australian brand Little Emperor. (Yes, combined with jeans as it’s still pretty cold here in Paris) Clara (right) is wearing a llama print shirt by Waddler, skirt by molo.
