PEEKABOO – WORKSHOPS

With the first six weeks of this school year nearly over, it’s time for the first two weeks off school… Yes, already! So if you’re looking for some activities during these two weeks…!? Or for Wednesday activities…!? You have come to the right place. Peekaboo! is an organization that offers workshops to invent, build, and play. Sound fun no!?

Bilingual workshops…

Peekaboo! is created by Coline Irwin and Selena McMahan in 2011. They have both grown up with a sensibility towards different languages and cultures and with an awareness of the richness of a bilingual and bicultural childhood.

Children discover the world through all of their senses. They touch, smell, listen, taste and observe the elements around them. Peekaboo! artist-educators follow this natural tendency of children and propose sensorial explorations of the books that are the center of the workshops. They look at a sheet of paper with a magnifying glass, listen to the sounds of the pages, taste white foods like the images of the book… And a lot more!

The English or bilingual French/English workshops that they offer are not imagined with the aim of teaching a second language but with that of generating an openness toward another language and culture. The workshops are about transmitting the pleasure of using a language, letting oneself be impregnated by a second language, searching for visual, auditory and physical cues, and finally learning words of another language through their use in activities.

They still have 3 places available for Shapes & Colours!
