Fashion is many things for many people and that’s what makes it so special. Like a lot of people I’ve long thought that clothing and peoples style is an external representation of everyone’s individuality. With children it’s a little bit different, not all of them are in a position to chose their own clothing or style, and it normally falls to the parent to make decision around what their children will wear and how that reflects their personality and uniqueness.
And that can be difficult, finding clothing that isn’t just run of the mill and truly reflects both you and your child.
Luckily children’s online clothing boutique Goodmorning Sunshine offers a carefully hand-picked selection to suit your every occasion. For children from 0 up to 10 years old.
Founded by Angelique Goodmorning Sunshine realises her passion for motherhood and sourcing and representing unique brands. Time for an interview!
Would you mind introducing yourself and your webshop to our readers?
Hi, I’m Angelique and my childrens clothing boutique Goodmorning Sunshine offers many different styles from different countries.
What lead you to working with fashion?
My passions are my children and fashion. For many years, I worked in women and childrens fashion boutique’s and even though I’m extremely happy with my online boutique, I keep dreaming of my own brick and mortar store.
Do you have children?
Yes, I have 3 children. A daughter who is almost 19 years old, a 16 year old son and a little girl who is nearly 4 years old.
What has changed in your life since you became a mother?
Oh, where do I start. Motherhood will change you in ways you could never have predicted. It will challenge, reward and amaze you. Children are so pure and it gives love a new meaning.
What is the best thing about being a mother?
So many things I don’t think you can pick just one, all the children are so different if is fun to watch them react so differently to the same things.
I guess the most beautiful thing about being a mum is the unconditional love they give you. This is some feeling that I can’t describe, something so special. My children are my everything.
What is your advice for new mums?
Enjoy your children en let children be themselves. Every child is unique.
How do you combine motherhood and work?
I work from home and this can be difficult at times because my youngest child is still at home. She will start school soon and I think I will definitely miss her being around.
How do you make sure everything is in balance (work, family, friends)?
I have to be honest and admit that everything is not balance right now. I’m really busy with Goodmorning Sunshine because of the new collections that are arriving, packing orders…. And since I have a family with 3 children as well, there’s not a lot of time left for family and friends at the moment but I cant wait to catch up with all of them!
How do you define your own personal style? Do we see that back in your webshop?
I love many different styles. I don’t have one specific style. Rock, classy, sporty, casual. I love to mix and match!
What do you find most rewarding, and most challenging about your job?
Receiving photo’s of children wearing clothes that they bought at Goodmorning Sunshine or the comments I get from parents.
Its a challenge every season to pick the ‘musthaves’ and or ‘bestsellers’ and I have to stay on top of the promotion via Instagram and Facebook to make sure people from all over the world know where to find us.
What do you like and dislike about the fashion industry?
I am strongly against child labour!
What I do like about about the fashion industry is that more and more brands start to use organic products, oh and let’s not forget to mention the creativity of the industry! I have a long wish list of brands that I would like to add to Goodmorning Sunshine.
What’s your favorite product from your current line?
What are some essentials that every child should have in their closet / toyroom?
I believe that all children should have clothes in their wardrobe that they like and feel comfortable wearing! That’s the most important thing!
If one of our readers is in your city, which is, for 24 hours. What things would you recommend they do?
If you happen to be in Bergen op Zoom ( Holland) I would definitely tell you to go and visit our historical city center as there’s so much to see!
I would also suggest a walk in the forest and if your children are a little bit older, go to ‘het klimbos’ (Climbing forest) and nearby you’ll find a beautiful Ibiza style restaurant called ‘De Berk’ where you can eat enjoy tasty food and drink champagne!
Or if you like cycling, rent a bike and cycle along ‘the Binnenschelde’ a beautiful bit of nature. I really enjoy this myself and all of this is very close to my house! Afterward I would go out for dinner at ‘Visj’, a restaurant with a vintage look with the most delicious fish and gin tonics!
Here in Bergen we are true Burgundian’s!
