Danish Pierrot la Lune was established in 2013 by designer Emilie Ventujol as the realisation of a lifelong dream of creating timeless and sophisticated yet playful and informal childrenswear. The Pierrot la Lune look has a touch of nostalgia; a dreamy and magical aesthetic referring to old movies and faded photos from a childhood in southern Europe in the 50s and 60s. The cuts are simple and wearable, the colours are subdued, and the classic stripes and beautiful floral prints bare resemblance of faded wallpapers or quilts from grandma’s attic.
The Pierrot la Lune AW16 campaign, shot in Danish castle Holckenhavn, invites you into a magical, poetic and sophisticated universe.
As always, Pierrot la Lune loves playing with ethnic prints, lovely and soft fabrics. The look is clean and simple yet with a sophisticated and lavish French touch. The removable ruffled collars pay tributes to Pierrot, the Man in the Moon and has become the unmistakable signature of Pierrot la Lune.
The colour palette goes from misty green to ensign blue and pompeian red. The royal element gets toned down with neutral grey and off white tones. Pierrot la Lune definitely masters the art of allowing children to be children while looking stylish and sophisticated.
