Another brand I discovered on the app Lil’Stylers is the awesome Japanese brand impossible is nothing BY UPSET BOYZ
“Parody” is the theme of their T-shirt line for SS14, amongst other really cool stuff inspired by sports and urban style for children.
Time for an interview with Takehito, the designer.
How would you describe your brand?
It is a MIX. About a feeling! Of a style which feels current. Centering on sport, and the realistic life styles of the street. It is produced in small limited runs for people who truly like clothes.
What is your inspiration behind the SS14 collection?
Street music, skating and graffiti. I want to represent it in the world of children.
Do you have children? How does that influence your work?
Yes, I have two children, infact the models on the official website are actually my own children! Both of them are very active in sports, and I often get my inspiration from the lifestyle of children.
What are the most rewarding and most challenging aspects of your job?
I am excited that I can present a new style of children’s clothing, but printing T-shirt has been especially challenging. I have printed the parts a little darker this time. I’ve had problems in that the parodies were too similar to the originals.
How would you describe your own personal style?
I became an independent and experienced designer and buyer for companies focusing on the sports styles of 90’s and 80’s. I’m interested in a mix of the design and functionality featured in sports fashion. It is a combination of the styles of skateboarding and old school Mash-up style, unique to Japan. I like the styles to match the high-tech sneakers in particular.
