Do you know that cashmere is ideal for children’s clothing because it’s breathable form allows the clothes made from it to be worn in all climates?! Cashmere also gets softer with age and more comfortable – perfect for hand-me-downs. It’s also a renewable resource from goats native to the Mongolian highlands. The goats produce long fibers that are harvested by hand, then washed before being spun into yarn. Timeless, ageless and luxurious!
Art deco is Melissa Wang’s inspiration for the Eden and Zoe AW14 collection. Eden and Zoe, the daughters of Melissa, love geometric designs and are drawn to symmetrical patterns. They especially like completing mazes and much of their artwork revolves around floral and zigzag motifs in vivid colours. This started her thinking about 1920s art deco design which was at the time, considered both luxurious and decorative: perfect for a cashmere collection.
In this collection, Melissa has used a striking intarsia chevron pattern and delicate floral pointelle and lace knits which pay tribute to classic art deco design elements. The pieces are presented in shades of gray, blue, brown and light pink, which are some of her favorite autumn/winter colours.
In addition, Eden and Zoe introduces their inaugural boys’ collection! Now it is not just girls who can enjoy their cashmere pieces. As with the girls’ collection, their boys’ sizing runs from sizes 2 – 10.
