Time for an interview with the founder of Drema Lab, Nataliya Beschastnaya.
Would you mind introducing yourself and your brand to our readers?
Hello, my name is Nataliya Beschastnaya and I am the founder of the Russian brand Drëma lab, a classic brand of clothing for children’s sleep and in the home.
Do you have children? How does that influence your work?
I have a daughter called Leah. She is 4 years old. She inspires and supports me. Participates in as a model in the filming and fashion shows.
Can you tell us a little bit about your background? How did you become a kids fashion designer?
I have a background in theater, as a director and also as a teacher of elocution.
I was very fascinated to the children. And I organized a club “Together with mother”, where we are assisted in the development of kids together with mums from 6 months: focusing on communication and supporting each other.
With the birth of my child I began working in the family business of creative development and started designing clothes. I think babies need special clothing for sleeping. After all, children spend so much time asleep. They grow through their dreams.
I’m also creator of project Mama’s Fashion a fashion show focusing on Mom clothing designers. So, why not become a designer?
Where does the name Drema Lab originate from?
The name Drëma lab. comes from a few obsolete Russian word “silene dioica, meaning the State of drowsiness. Written in the Latin alphabet, but remained the Russian letter “ё”.
It means “we know all about the dreams of children, because they themselves were children. …”
What are the inspirations or motivations behind your design?
I’m inspired by classics. Classic styles of dress. Simple and straight silhouettes. Minimalism.
What are three of the most important things to consider when designing a line of kids clothing?
For me the most important are comfort, safety and practicality.
What are some essentials that every child should have in their closet?
It’ll be no surprise that I answer, pajamas, nightgowns and nice homemade dresses.
What are the most rewarding and most challenging aspects of your job?
April marks 2 years for Drëma Lab, but for me profession designing is still a novelty, and I am constantly learning.
For me it’s all equally difficult and new, but the results and positive comments from moms and children of my product is incredibly pleasing to me.
If one of our readers is in your home city for 24 hours. What one thing would you recommend they do?
