Babaà makes quality children’s knitwear for everyday use. The designs are simply gorgeous and they keep you warm!
Timeless pieces you will want all of your children to wear and then pass down for generations. Babaà uses 100% natural materials which means the yarns are not mixed with acrylics or any other synthetic fibres. And they try to keep their production as local as it can be, supporting the local Spanish textile industry and sourcing wool from the north of Spain.
The designs are oversized and loose fitting for extra comfort and to make room for growing children. And yes, the do come in our size! We interviewed the owner of the brand, Marta Bahillo.
How would you describe your brand?
Natural, Simple, Comfortable, Timeless
What lead you to working with fashion?
I always loved textile design. When I moved to Ireland after studying a few years of journalism in Madrid, I decided I would do whatever I liked and it was textile design of course. I never looked back!
Who has been your biggest fashion influence?
Mostly women that I have been lucky to have in my life.
What do you find most rewarding, and most challenging about your job?
The most rewarding thing is to see happy children wearing BABAÀ and happy mums coming back to buy again. Its means a lot! The most challenging this is the businees part of it, I guess I am learning.. Even when I try to take a minute off, BABAÀ is always on my mind.
What is your favourite item from your AW13 collection?
I love them all, seriously! I put so much love into all the designs! I find it hard not to use them all for te following season, but there are always new designs and old ones can be picked up again. They are really timeless.
